Sasha Attwood , the GF of Aston Villa and England star Jack Grealish , has said she was sent two hundred  death threats a day amid a barrage of abuse on social media. She described social media as “toxic” and said that it’s “really sad” tat teenagers as young as 13 think that it’s OK to send abuse online. Beijing police detain Chinese-Canadian pop star Kris Wu over rape allegation

  Police in China said they have detained a 30-year-old Canadian man surnamed Wu on suspicion of committing rape, with state media identifying him as Chinese-born pop singer Kris Wu. Wu was being investigated over accusations made online of "tricking young girls into having sex with him", according to a statement by police in the Chaoyang district of the Chinese capital Beijing late on Saturday. Wu was publicly accused last month by an 18-year-old Chinese student of inducing her and other girls, some of them under the age of 18, to have sex with him. The student told Chinese media last month that Wu had lured her into having sex when she was 17 after plying her with liquor. A police statement last month said the student was invited by Wu's team to his house for casting in music videos. Pakistan search hopes India will act fairly as UNSC president

 ISLAMABAD: The Foreign Office on Saturday expressed the hope that India would act fairly during its month-long tenure as the president of the United Nations Security Council (UNSC). FO spokesman Zahid Hafeez Chaudhri, while responding to a query from Dawn, said Pakistan hopes that “India will abide by the relevant rules and norms governing the conduct of the Security Council Presidency”. India, which is currently a non-permanent member of UNSC for a two-year term, would be holding the presidency of the powerful 15-nation body for the month of August beginning Sunday. The presidency of UNSC rotates on a monthly basis following the English alphabetical order of the names of the member states. India, which entered UNSC on Jan 1, 2021, will twice get the presidency during its term ending on Dec 31, 2022. Pakistan reports 5,000 daily cases for first time since April

The fourth wave of Covid-19 pandemic has continued its upward trajectory, with Pakistan reporting 5,029 cases over the past 24 hours — the highest number of daily cases in the country since April 29 when 5,112 infections were reported. According to the National Command and Operation Centre (NCOC), the body responsible for the country's Covid-19 response, the new cases were detected against 56,965 tests and took the overall national tally to 1,034,837. The positivity rate of the daily cases was recorded at 8.8 per cent — up from 8.46pc the previous day. Meanwhile, 62 more coronavirus-related fatalities raised the country's death toll from the disease to 23,422.
